II. 6:45– 7:00 p.m.  Hennepin Ave. Methodist Update – Pat Scott
Some contacts have been made with the City's permitting office, and information has been provided about the current city rules about signage.  (Some time ago, HAUMC had a lighted, monument sign
in the area adjacent to the flagpole near the intersection of Lyndale and Groveland.  Long time
residents may remember that sign.)

The current, unlighted, large placard-type signs on the Lyndale and Groveland sides of the church property have been in place for several years, but have always been regarded as sort of "makeshift temporary."  But they're big and visible, and have helped people unfamiliar with the location find the church for various functions.

The city's sign rules have evolved considerably over the past several years. On a site like that of
HAUMC, which has street (or freeway ramp) frontage on all four sides of its property, a sign is
allowed on each frontage, but the specified dimensions for such signs don't seem to make much
sense for a site like HAUMC.  The sign rules include a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) provision
that can be utilized for special circumstances.

III. 7:00– 7:20 p.m.  1410 Nicollet Ave.  – Laura Boyd
A new owner, Patrick Hoepner, will be taking over the Safari Restaurant @ 1410 Nicollet Avenue
and would like a class E> liquor license and may also be interested in a sidewalk café license.
Patrick is a seasoned chef and will also be the general manager of the restaurant.

IV.  7:20 – 8:00 p.m.  Community Benefits Agreements – Katie Hatt, Loring Park Resident and former Longfellow neighborhood Director and Larry Hiscock, Harrison Neighborhood Director.
A community benefits agreement, or CBA, is a private contract between a developer and a community coalition that sets forth the benefits that the community will receive from the development. Common benefits include living wages, local hiring and training programs, affordable housing, environmental remediation and funds for community programs. CBAs ensure that development is equitable and
benefits all members of the community, eventually contributing to stronger local economies, livable neighborhoods and increased public participation in the planning process.
